Technical Operations Manager, Department of Computer Science and Engineering
Reports to: Department Chair
Purpose: Manage all technical and financial operations, assist in rare high technical courses and share in technical support of projects, administer the department technical staff and evaluate their performance.
Principal Accountabilities:
Determine required H/W, S/W & furniture needs and justify the budget plan according to needs of courses and projects
Proceed requisitions of H/W, S/W & furniture of the department and check specifications of received items as mentioned in requisitions
Maintain current budget and generate financial situation reports
Assure proper state of labs tidiness, secure the reliability of Labs contents, and network to be in highest efficiency
Prepare the upgrade study of available resources to match recent technology needs for courses & projects
Control all properties of the department by all ways of security in cooperation with safety and security department
Assist in teaching of CSE courses and support projects related to them
Monitor technical staff and prepare the plan of training to improve their performance
Participate in computer seminars and conferences that introduce either new products or solutions of computer problems
Collect data about latest products that best fit the current and future needs of the department subjected with estimated cost and best offers
Perform any additional tasks assigned by the direct supervisor
Requirements:
Minimum education requirement: B.Sc. in a relevant field is required. Graduate Studies in related fields is an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of previous experience including three years of experience in a relevant field.
Skills:
A broad range of technical computer skills in both software and hardware maintenance and system administration
Excellent interpersonal skills
Network administration: Extensive experience in network management, disaster prevention and trouble-shooting. -LAN/WAN technologies by using the professional credential
Microsoft products installation, configuration and administration
Support for different operating systems and applications, Windows 2008 domain administration
PCs software trouble-shooting (i.e. desktops and laptops)
Personal assets. Able to work under pressure and deliver efficient results, persistent in solving problems, takes initiative and adaptable, clear communication skills as well as leadership skills in team work environment
Working ability to understand, analyze, evaluate, and install different software of servers, workstations, and equipment
Configure, maintain and troubleshooting of network printers and scanners
Excellent knowledge networking and computer software
Knowledge of programming
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work well with other campus service departments
Ability to perform in high stress situations
Excellent written and spoken English
Managerial skills
Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills
